Keep Knocking

One night in the summer of 2021, I was sleeping when I was startled awake by a loud, almost piercing voice that said, “Keep knocking!” At first, I didn’t fully understand what it meant, but as I prayed, God began to reveal its depth.

In the pursuit of God’s purposes, there’s a unique work He accomplishes within us as we seek. Reflect on the parable of the hidden treasure and the pearl in Matthew 13:

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field" (Matthew 13:44)."Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it" (Matthew 13:45-46).

The process of finding treasure or a pearl of great value requires perseverance, focus, and diligence. The seeker must track what’s been uncovered and note what still remains. This journey needs the right tools to unearth the treasure and wisdom to grasp the treasure’s worth fully. Only then is the seeker able to give up everything else for it.

As I continued to seek God, He spoke to my heart during prayer: “Because you seek revival, you will find it.” He made it clear that the journey of seeking brings growth and helps us build sustainable systems for His kingdom. All He asks is that we “keep knocking.”
