“He has put a new song in my mouth, praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord” (Psalm 40:3).“I will sing a new song to You, O God; on a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You” (Psalm 144:9).“Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him” (John 9:31).
This morning, as I was praying, I found myself singing songs that declared my love for the Lord. I moved from one song to the next, each expressing my deepest thoughts and desires.
As I sang, I heard the Lord gently say, “That’s Chandler’s song. I like that song, but sing to Me your song.”
At that moment, I struggled to find a lyric or melody that was my own. My mind was so full of others’ songs and sentiments that I couldn’t immediately find my own voice or words.
Then, finally, I found a single line that spoke my heart to Him, and I sang it—a new song, from me to the Lover of my soul.
Today, as you go into worship, sing a new song to the Lord. He is waiting to hear your heart, your voice, your thoughts in melody.
